Fast and Easy Method of Cutting a Fresh Pineapple

For some reason I always hated cutting up a pineapple.  It took forever and I always felt I had wrestled it into submission by the time the task was completed.

That is until I figured out this method.  Now the deed is done in a flash and I don't mind it a bit.  I have never seen directions to do it this way so it is for certain time to pass this along.

Take out a large sharp knife and a large cutting board.  I also pull out my trash basket and place it along side me.  I do not attempt to put the peels or stalk down the disposal.  I feel certain that would be a BIG mistake and an even bigger mess.

Lay the pineapple on it's side and cut the top straight off about 1/2" below it's attachment to the fruit.  Pitch this in the trash.  Cut the bottom straight off across the bottom again about 1/2" up from the bottom of the fruit.

Sit the pineapple on the board on it's base standing straight up.  Locate visually the round core at the center of the fruit.  Slice all the way through the pineapple right through the center of this core top to bottom.    You should have 2 halves now on the board.

Set one piece aside and center the tip of the knife through the core in a section equal to 1/5th or 1/6th of the fruit to form a long spear and cut top to bottom.  Repeat until you have 5-6 spears.  Position the knife blade parallel to the peel but inside of it about 1/4" to 3/8" and slice it away.  You may also make another  long slice top to bottom if you choose to remove the core.

Repeat on all of the spears and then repeat the process on the other half of the pineapple.  Toss the top, bottom, peels, and core in the trash and store or serve delicious fresh pineapple.  Cut as you wish for salads or other dishes.
