Linda's Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese for a Crowd (THE BEST EVER)

This is my "go-to" recipe for mac and cheese on a big meal day.  It frees up oven space and is no-fail good!
Linda is my middle sister 5 years younger and this is her recipe and for my money you can't beat it.  Easy and good!  Note:  I have doubled this recipe to feed a crowd.  For a week day meal of 4-6 persons I would cut it back to half.

Ingredients for Linda's Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese:

5 C. uncooked macaroni, cook and drain to pkg. directions
4 cans evaporated milk
2 pounds shredded cheddar cheese (We use part Velveeta for the creamy factor!)
Salt, pepper, and a pinch of dry mustard to taste

Combine all of the above ingredients in a crock pot and cook on low 1 1/2 - 2 hours.  Stir occasionally.

This is a great time to use a crock pot liner for ease of cleanup.  This will yield a crowd size batch serving 10-12.  You may also cut the recipe in half for family size portions.

  2. Thank you. I will have to try that. For some reason I am a failure at homemade mac and cheese. It just never tastes right.

  3. Lisa I think this is pretty fool proof. I have used many different kinds of cheese and it is always good. If you like it creamy use some Velveeta diced up too, if not use what you like. The only caution is not to start it so early in the day the macaroni overcooks and gets blooby. In my crock pot I leave it on low 1 11/2 hour but crock pots vary. Just make a note of the time until you get it the way you want it then write it down o your recipe or note it someplace. It will be fine! Best of luck and let me know how it goes. Diane

  5. The regular size, 2 of them....not the little one. I don't have any right now to be able to go look and tell you in ounces. Sorry!

  7. I am so sorry! I am having another senior moment! To make the recipe as I have stated above 4 of the regular size cans. I always use this way which is double the way my sister Linda gave it to me. I always double to make for a crowd using my crock-pot. Thank you for pointing out my error and allowing me to explain it was my mistake. Diane

  8. just how much macaroni do I cook?? 1 box? 2 boxes? your instructions call for 5 cups mac. cook that much, or use that much cooked macaroni??

  9. Hi Shelley. You take 5 cups of uncooked, raw macaroni and then cook per package directions. Macaroni can be purchased in many sizes and in boxes and bags. That part does not matter. After cooking the macaroni and draining proceed with the recipe and good luck I hope you like it as much as we have.
