#29 is Fine Cheeseburger Chowder a recipe from the Gals at "The Iowa Housewife."

This is an easy quick fix that is delicious.
I have mentioned several times how much I enjoy theiowahousewife.blogspot.com.  Myrna and Sue are sisters and share recipes together.  This one comes by way of Sue and I am including a link back to them should you too want to visit them!  iowasue.blogspot.com/2013/08/29-is-fine-cheeseburger-chowder.html

Brian's blood pressure was up a bit today and I have nixed our regular Friday night pizza in favor of a bowl of this warm comforting soup.  According to Dr. Bede and his nurse salt is the big elephant in the room when it comes to BP.  So no pizza tonight and I cut out adding salt in the soup.

There is a restaurant in the Iowa town where they live called the Smokey Row and they serve this soup.  It is said to be so popular that VP Joe Biden stopped there and it may have been for this very soup.....

Ingredients for #29 is fine Cheeseburger Chowder:

1 pound lean ground beef
3 C. chicken broth
3 C. O'Brian style frozen hash browns
3/4 C. diced onion
3/4 C. diced celery
1 t. basil
1 t. Italian seasoning
1/4 C. flour
1 1/2 C. milk
3/4 t. pepper
garlic powder to taste
8 ounces cubed Velveeta cheese
3/4 t. salt & black pepper
1/4 C. sour cream

Brown the beef and season with the salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.  Add the broth, hash browns, onion, celery, basil, and Italian seasoning.  Bring to a boil and reduce the heat.  Cover and simmer for 12 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.

Combine the 1/2 C. milk and the flour stirring smooth.  Reduce the heat and add the 1 C. milk, the flour and milk mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened.  Add cheese, salt and pepper to taste and heat until the cheese has melted.  Blend in the sour cream and serve piping hot in large mugs.

Were the truth known I eyeballed most of the ingredients and may have used a bit more sour cream than suggested.  I omitted all of the salt and it was still very full flavored.
